Tan-I Temple, Miami, Floria, USA (天愛佛堂)
Origin of Tan-I Temple
Temple-Host Sophie Jianglin, residing in Orlando, Florida, has been practiced and cultivated Tao for years. Years ago, there were request from some members who lives in Miami expressed their intention to initiate, learn, and study about Tao. Taking on the mission of spreading Tao, renting prayer Halls from other churches away from her hometown (Orlando) became a must. Driving long distance to conduct Tao ceremonies and/or class was a norm for many years for Temple-Host Sophy Jianglin.
Until year 2015, Sr. Master Lee felt it was necessary to find a church so that all the members can gather on regular basis to learn and study Tao. With permission from Elder Lin, Jr. Master Lee started to look for a suitable church in Miami. It took almost a year to look for a ideal place. Many months went by, Sr. Master Lee and Jr. Master Lee finally realized most churches are too expensive, and Tanshen Temple can't afford the price tag. Thus, a decision was made to look for a house, instead of a church.
Subsequently, Jr. Master Lee spent several months looking for a suitable house. Fortunately, with the assistance of an experienced local real estate broker, she found one house located on 10751 SW 38 Th St. in Miami The house has 2,200 sqft with lot size approximately 10,000 sqft. Centrally located near schools, shopping, restaurants & minutes from mayor highways. From the airport, it is only 30 minutes of drive. It sits on the street corner which would accommodate more parking spaces. This is the ideal location for serving all the Tao members.
On 11/08/2015, a holy temple, non-profit organization, was established at: 10751 SW 38th St, Miami, FL 33165. Sr. Master Lee, Jr. Master Lee, and other staffs conducted the Initial Established Ceremony.
In Jan 2016, during Sr. Master Lee's trip back to Taiwan, she learned Elder Lin had bestowed a name to this holy temple: "Tan-I Temple" (pronounce as Tan-eye). Tan-I literately means Heavenly Love.
With Heaven's grace, Patriarchs' mercy, Siezun and Siemu's blessing, Elders' honor, Masters' virtues, all the members are delighted finally to have a regular place to meet. With Tan - I Temple, all the members will be able to practice Tao rituals, attend Tao classes regularly, learn about vegetarian cooking, and mostly importantly, to gain better understanding from Buddha Maitreya's teaching.
Tan-I Temple is a branch of Tanshen Temple 天信佛堂 (Bao Guan Jan Der). Jr. Master Lee is currently overseeing this location for Tao ceremonies and classes.
